The Helsinki Baltic Herring Fair 3. – 9.10.2010
The Helsinki Baltic Herring Fair is one of the oldest Helsinki traditions, organized annually since 1743. For one week, fishermen from Southern Finland’s archipelago moor their boats at the Square and arrive on trucks, to sell salted, pickled and marinated herring, as well as other typical products from the archipelago, directly from the boats or from stalls.

So different from your life in Casablanca. It must be fun to experience both at the same time. How long do you spend in each location per year?
You’re rigth, totally different. From Egypt we visited only twice a year but now we have some personal things why we have to travel more often to Finland.
I’m going again in November for a couple of weeks.
Such superior snaps. Bravo!
Melissa, you make me blush…but thank you!
Great shots, loved the slideshow!
Thanks JM! I noticed your trip was good……
Wonderful photos. As I was only able to spent couple hours in Helsinki before passing to Stockholm with one of those huge boats, I still wonder it a lot. It looks like such a beautiful city..
A couple of hours is more than none! 🙂 Helsinki is beautiful and clean………
Welgo back to Istanbul! 🙂 (can’t say welcome because I’m not there)
I think Nicole is referring to ‘op’ as in ‘opportunity’.
That’s what I thought but it sounded too simple, easy! 🙂
I love the shots!
What a great photo op!
Thanks Nicole! Pls tell me what op means?
I really enjoyed all these pictures of this place so far away that is your home! When I see boats, or pictures of the sea, I could swear I could smell that air! I love that smell!
I love that smell too! I was born in Helsinki and every weekend we walked by the seashore…. 🙂
I love all those boats – fabulous 🙂
Thanks Rachel! Nice to see you here! 🙂
What amazing pictures! Looks beautiful there.
It was a beautiful day! There, in Finland… 🙂
Hey! Thanks for stopping by ‘my place’…I’m glad you enjoyed my pix; as an expat myself, I know how important it is to see images from home 😀 It looks like you had lovely weather for your trip back home…as you probably know, we’ve had terrible weather since then…even a couple of snow storms!! Enjoy the nice sunny weather down there; I visited Morocco for 6 weeks many years ago, and it’s a beautiful place from which I have many fond memories 😀
Thank you stopping by here! 🙂
I was lucky with the weather!
Weather is good – +25 and not so humid…6 weeks – we’ve been almost 7 months, still 5 to go…can’t wait to move on…. 🙂
