photos of the weekend #41
“On 7 June 2010, the Helsinki Central railway station was officially renamed Helsingin päärautatieasema-Helsingfors centralstation (Helsinki main railway station, or Helsinki central railway station) in Finnish and Swedish, replacing the previous official name Helsingin rautatieasema-Helsingfors järnvägsstation (Helsinki railway station). The Finnish transport bureau use “Helsinki C” as a shorthand, and there were erroneous news reports that this shorthand would also be taken into official use.” > Wikipedia

What great shots and shadows. The way the light is touching down so perfectly. Just beautiful.
Thanks Joanne! Have a great day!
First it looks as if the station is radiating light – then as if you have managed to climb onto its roof to write your name. You must have a tall ladder and a head for heights!
Lucy
Great you know me that well Lucy! 🙂 I’m tall, I have a tall ladder plus my head is for heights! LOL!
Great cityscapes. It’s so interesting to see someplace new.
To see and learn new things is one reason why I blog…

All I can say is WOW…what a modern city…I’m so glad I live in a little town in Iowa…but I’ll gladly visit on your wonderful tour bus!

Public ransportation is really good in Finland…

Helsinki Central railway is a great panaormaic piece of architecture! Fascinating! And enjoyed your streetscapes in the following photos!
We have still a few buildings which are architecturally important, some even beautiful.
Can’t say the same of the houses of flats they are building nowadays…
lovely series of photos, cool how you’ve made it look as though the station has your blog name engraved into its roof…
I almost designed that station! 🙂
