It’s been really strange weather here in Cairo lately. Last 4-5 days it’s been hot and no wind at all.
It’s a strange feeling to be outside and not a single breeze. Nada. Zero.
Like the air was dead.

The other day I watched the CNN news from South Korea and how they have a big plan to go green.

Asian countries are getting more ecofriendly.
“When a NoPoPo (non-pollution power) battery runs dead, simply pee on it. The ions in urine cause a chemical reaction that produces electricity. Sold throughout Japan, these batteries can be recharged up to five times and are safe to dispose.”
U.N. is hopeful.

They do that in UAE (salty water to sweet) but how widely I don’t know…

Ihan kuin olisi tulossa. Painostava. Hiljaista. No, hiukka on kylla valoisampaa mutta muuten sama tunnelma.
Tanaan tuulee ja on pilvista ja aurinkoista sekaisin…

Tuommonen tuuleton kuumuus kuulostaa pahaenteiseltä.

I don’t know, US people can be a passive lot. I’m sure the guys here though would love to pee on their truck’s batteries instead of jump-starting them during the winter.
I like the idea of those batteries.
But tell me, why don’t they use more solar energy in Egypt?
They could even use that energy to run the systems to make salt water into normal water.

It’s going to be interesting to see what USA is ready to committed – only to 6-7% or more…
And China, India where middle class grows and they need one car, two cars…and they start to fly all over the globe…

Kylla siella ihan asiallisesti tulee ilmi minkalaisista muutoksista on kyse.
Se on toinen juttu kuinka paljon ihmiskunta muutokseen vaikuttaa.
Kun olen nyt kaksi vuotta ollut Kairossa, niin joka syksy ja kevät sama juttu eli kaikki valittavat epätavallisesta ilmasta. Ja kieltämättä kuumaa on ollut, mutta esim. ei tämä Kairon nykyinen ilma poikkea yhtään parista edellisestä, etenkin 2007 muistan miten julmetun kuumaa oli pitkälle talveen. Ja taas keväällä 2008 kuumuus alkoi poikkeuksellisen aikaisin (Luxorissa oltiin silloin).
Ilmastonmuutoksesta ei kai kauheasti voi sanoa lyhyellä aikavälillä mitään, ainahan se on muuttunut ja ainakin käsittääkseni jos asioita katsotaan tilastollisesti Suomessa, mitään erikoista siellä ei ole säiden suhteen tapahtunut vaikka aina puhutaan, että säät ovat sekaisin.
It’s scary to think of the consequences of not facing the problem. At an individual level one can reduce one’s consumption of energy sources and utilities that result in higher carbon emissions. A day of Action makes concerned people more visible to the governments who ignore the problem and take remedial steps only if the demand of their constituents is insistent and frequent.
