photos of the weekend #40
Greetings – still from Helsinki, Finland!
“The busy Market Square, with its orange stalls, between the sea and the impressive row of historical buildings is the first view to catch the eye of the visitor arriving by sea. On one side of the bay is the South Harbour, on the other the Katajanokka headland. Facing out to sea are Helsinki City Hall, the Swedish Embassy and the Presidential Palace.”

Welcome on board! Silja Line
Welcome on board! Viking Line (the ship in the middle, red/white)
I didn’t have to ask him to smile! 🙂 I bought cranberry-rasberry jam…yummy!
More Market Square pictures next week…

Ooooo, it’s always so much fun to visit your world, a little mini-tour of a wonderful place I will probably never see…but I can dream through your wonderful shots…hope you had a grand weekend!
I had a really relaxing and nice weekend! This weekend we’ll be still in Helsinki even if I’m already in Casablanca – back to daily life here…
I don’t remember the last time I saw the sea….sigh! Miss it so…..
I know what you mean…when you see the sea it’s like seeing a freedom…
I want some of that jam.
I love your logo on the side of the boats. I think Blogitse would be a great name for a ship.
🙂 If I have a ship one day it’ll be BLOGitse…. 🙂
Hey, Helsinki — I need some jam! Great pics.
Hei, hei Helsingistä! (Hi from Helsinki!) 🙂
Looks like a colorful and friendly place to stroll about and make friends.
That is one place where you can connect with people! Customers are so different what they are inside shopping malls etc. Maybe it’s the fresh air! 🙂
Why are ports at sea more picturesque than the modern ports – airports?
cranberry-rasberry jam – sounds tasty.
Modern way to build must be quick and ugly! 🙂
I spent one lovely day in Helsinki, many, many years ago on a Baltic cruise. Wish I could return and stay a week in Finland!
Why not! Helsinki is not whole Finland. Did you know we have almost 200.000 lakes? Lakes, rivers in Finland
I’m one of those tourists that would have made a beeline towards those stalls.
Happy Sunday,
jj
and have a cup of coffee, sit outside, watch people…. 🙂
This looks like a fabulous place to explore for all sorts of wonderful sights.
It is, come and visit! 🙂 Have a good week ahead!
Fantastic shots! I would love to walk around and look at all the wonderful things up for sale!
Today it’s been grey plus cold Northen wind….brrrrrr……
Great shots. I love cranberry jam!
🙂 Have a great week ahead!
Thanks for the tour! I love the ship shotos.
And I’d be smiling too if I had cranberry rasberry jam.
Great – we’re all smiling! 🙂 Have a great week ahead!
I do love to stroll around markets! And this ones look fun! Great photos as always! Enjoy your jam! 🙂
In markets people are more connected than in shopping malls, I like that! Happy Sunday Tracy!
that looks like an awesome market. The waterfront looks like ours in Hobart
It is awesome, more pics coming next week…Happy Sunday!
Wonderful and lively captures. Love the boats and ferry and that market square looks like a wonderful spot to spend the day.

wow, you’re almos pro traveler between Helsinki-Stockholm! 🙂 Happy Sunday!
The shame is that snow and ice are to follow (while you are in a warmer place for the season no doubt 🙂
Along the water, it is full of life as people shop or sightsee. It is a wonderful sight!
‘Kauppatori’ is one of the most famous places to visit in Helsinki…
Lovely series of colourful photos! The market looks like a fascinating place to wander! But I especially love those beautiful ships!

Sylvia
Thanks Sylvia! I can’t remember when I’ve eaten as much as during this trip 🙂
Wonderful shots.
Thanks Rajesh! Happy Sunday!
Minulta jää silakkamarkkinat tänä vuonna väliin, mutta onneksi tulee uusia vuosia.
Siellä on ihania herkkuja, mutta mielestäni kamalan kallista!
Samaa mielta – kallista mutta hyvaa. Toisaalta. Kaikki pienimuotoinen ‘kasityo’ on kallista.
Looks windy and cool. Huiii! Beautiful sunny days any how, you were lucky 🙂
I WAS lucky – now it’s grey and next week it’s getting colder. Good time to leave on Monday… 🙂
